Privacy

What this site collects, which is very little, and why there are no enquiry forms.

This page describes how Folliculis handles information about visitors. It is written to match how the site actually works rather than from a template.

We do not collect enquiries

There are no enquiry forms, quote forms or lead-capture forms anywhere on this site, and no visitor accounts. We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number, and we do not have a database of people who visited.

When you contact a clinic using a phone number, email address, WhatsApp link or website link published here, that contact goes directly to the clinic. Folliculis is not a party to it, does not receive a copy, and is not told that it happened. This is the central point of the site: we do not generate or sell leads.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and to see which pages people find useful. It runs only if you agree. On your first visit a banner asks. Until you choose, nothing is loaded from Google, no request is made to Google Analytics and no analytics cookie is set. If you choose Reject, or leave without choosing, it stays that way.

If you choose Accept, Google Analytics loads and sets two cookies on this site: _ga, which tells one browser apart from another, and _ga_380ZB2DJSS, which keeps track of the current visit. Both expire after two years. Google Analytics then records the pages you view, how you arrived, and general information about your device, browser and approximate location. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We look at this only in aggregate, to understand how the directory is used. We do not use it for advertising, and we hold nothing that could connect it to your name.

Google provides Google Analytics and processes this data under its own terms, and may do so outside your country, including in the United States. See Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie, and is never sent to us. It lasts twelve months, after which the banner asks again. You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent stops the analytics and deletes its cookies from this site.

The legal basis for analytics is your consent. Apart from analytics, WordPress and the site’s caching layer may set strictly necessary cookies, for example when an administrator signs in to manage the site. We do not use advertising cookies. If we add anything else that sets a cookie or sends data to a third party, this page will be updated before it goes live.

Maps

Clinic pages can show a map from OpenStreetMap. It is not loaded with the page: only when you press “Show map” does your browser request it from OpenStreetMap’s servers, which then receive your IP address in the way any website you visit does. The map sets no cookies. OpenStreetMap is run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation, and its privacy policy applies. The “Open in Google Maps” links take you to Google only if you click them.

Server logs

Like any website, our hosting produces standard server logs recording requests: an IP address, the page requested, a timestamp, and the browser’s user agent. These exist for security and to keep the site running, and are held by our hosting provider.

Links to clinics and third parties

This site links out to clinic websites, to Google Maps, and to professional registers. Once you follow such a link you are on someone else’s site, subject to their privacy practices, not ours.

Information about clinics and surgeons

The directory publishes business information: clinic names, business addresses, business phone numbers, business email addresses, websites and social accounts, together with professional register entries naming surgeons and the clinics they are listed at. All of it is compiled from sources those businesses and bodies publish themselves.

If you are a surgeon or a clinic and want an entry corrected or removed, tell us and we will do it. You do not need to give a reason.

Your rights

Because we do not collect names or contact details from visitors, we generally hold nothing that identifies you. You can ask us what we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted; you can withdraw consent to analytics at any time; and you can complain to the data protection authority where you live. Write to us at the address below and we will answer.
