How clinics get into the directory

Clinic records begin with Google’s Places data, queried city by city across the countries we cover. That gives a business name, address, coordinates, phone number, website, rating, review count and opening hours.

Google returns a lot of businesses that are not hair transplant clinics: dermatology practices, plastic surgeons, and clinics that sell unrelated treatments. Every candidate is therefore checked against its own website before it is published. If the site does not mention hair transplantation, the record is dropped. In the most recent pass this removed 611 businesses that Google returned for hair transplant queries.

What we add from each clinic’s own site

We read each clinic’s homepage to collect the things Google does not carry: an email address, a messaging number, social accounts, the procedures the clinic advertises, and the languages it publishes its website in. Everything collected this way is something the clinic chose to publish about itself.

How listings are ordered

The default order on every location and facet page is Google review count, highest first. That measures how many people have left feedback, which tracks how large and how well marketed a clinic is. It is not a measure of surgical quality, and we do not present it as one.

Placement cannot be bought. No clinic pays to appear, to rank higher, or to be described differently, and we take no commission on any enquiry.

The most reviewed page applies one additional filter, a Google rating of 4.5 or above, and states that on the page.

Surgeon memberships

Where a listing names a surgeon, that name appears in the public member register of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and we were able to match it to that clinic. Matching is done on the clinic name and the surgeon’s surname, in the same city, and each match records which rule produced it so it can be audited.

We deliberately do not match a surgeon to a clinic in a different city on a weak name overlap, because attaching a named individual to the wrong branch of a chain asserts something untrue about a real person.

Membership is a voluntary, paid professional affiliation. It is not a licence, not a specialist qualification, and not an endorsement by the society or by us. Most surgeons are not members, so its absence means nothing.

Prices

We publish only prices that a clinic states publicly on its own website, and we record the sentence each figure came from and the date it was read.

A figure is rejected unless hair transplant wording is the nearest procedure to it in the text. This removes prices belonging to other treatments a clinic sells, monthly finance instalments, consultation fees, and commentary about what the procedure costs in other countries. Prices are shown in the currency the clinic published and are never converted, because a converted figure would be our number rather than the clinic’s.

A country’s price range is only quoted where at least three clinics there publish in the same currency. Below that we say the information is not available.

Hair types and specialist cases

A clinic is listed under a hair type or case type when its own website says it does that work. Categories are only created where enough clinics advertise them; curly hair and Asian hair were measured at single figures across the whole directory and no page was built for them.

• We do not verify medical licences.
• We do not assess surgical work or outcomes.
• We do not reproduce review text or present third-party ratings as our own.
• We do not estimate prices, invent descriptions, or generate claims we cannot source.

Corrections

Every listing is compiled from public sources and dated. If something is wrong, out of date, or you run a listed clinic and would rather not be listed, tell us and we will correct or remove it.
